MailboxGUI is an advanced mailbox plugin for Minecraft servers. It gives players a GUI-based mail system with letters, packages, money mail, mailbox styles, Post Office support, scheduled mail, admin tools, localization, and storage options built for long-term server use.

MailboxGUI 6.0.0 is a major single-server rewrite for the Free edition, with a separate Premium edition planned for future network features.

Important: 6.0.0 Network Features Warning

MailboxGUI 6.0.0 Free does not include network mode.

Premium network features are still in development and should not be treated as production-ready unless the Premium release page specifically says otherwise.

If you currently need the older free network features, use MailboxGUI versions 5.0.0 through 5.1.1.

Important upgrade notes for servers using network mode in 5.0.0 through 5.1.1:

  • Do not update a production network setup to 6.0.0 Free unless you are ready to move away from network mode.
  • 6.0.0 Free is designed for single-server use.
  • 6.0.0 Free will not generate or use the Premium network configuration.
  • If you update from an older network setup, make a full backup of plugins/MailboxGUI and your database first.

MailboxGUI and DiscBridge editions must match:

  • MailboxGUI 6.0.0 Free must be used with DiscBridge 2.0.0 Free.
  • MailboxGUI 6.0.0 Premium must be used with DiscBridge 2.0.0 Premium.
  • Free and Premium editions cannot be paired together.

Mailbox Styles

MailboxGUI 6.0.0 supports multiple physical mailbox designs, including:

  • Chest mailboxes.
  • Barrel mailboxes.
  • Shulker box mailboxes.
  • Utility block mailboxes.
  • Copper-style mailboxes when supported by the server version.
  • Shelf-style mailboxes when supported by the server version.
  • Post Office boxes.
  • Citizens NPC Post Office access.

Mailbox styles are version-aware, so unsupported Minecraft materials are safely ignored on older server versions.

Mailbox style version requirements:

  • Chest and trapped chest mailboxes: available on all MailboxGUI-supported Minecraft versions.
  • Barrel mailboxes: available on all MailboxGUI-supported Minecraft versions.
  • Shulker box mailboxes, including all shulker box colors: available on all MailboxGUI-supported Minecraft versions.
  • Utility block mailboxes using droppers, dispensers, and ender chests: available on all MailboxGUI-supported Minecraft versions.
  • Chiseled bookshelf mailboxes: require Minecraft 1.20 or newer.
  • Crafter mailboxes: require Minecraft 1.21 or newer.
  • Copper chest mailboxes, including oxidized and waxed copper chest variants: require Minecraft 1.21.9 or newer.
  • Shelf-style mailboxes: require Minecraft 1.21.9 or newer.
  • Post Office boxes can use the same supported physical mailbox styles as normal mailboxes.
  • Regular wall signs are supported for mailbox signs when that sign material exists on the server version.
  • Fence post bases support all fence materials available on the server version.
  • Hanging signs are not used as mailbox registration signs.

Scheduled Mail

Scheduled Mail lets server owners create automatic mail tasks from config.

Supported scheduled mail types include:

  • Paper letters.
  • Book letters.
  • Packages.
  • COD packages.
  • Money mail.

Scheduled Mail supports:

  • Send date.
  • Send time.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, and interval-style repeat behavior.
  • Server or configured timezone.
  • Expiration.
  • Catch-up behavior after restart.
  • Recipient groups such as all players with mailbox data.

Storage Compatibility

MailboxGUI supports:

  • SQLite.
  • YAML.
  • MySQL/MariaDB.

New installs default to SQLite.

Storage conversion is available through admin commands, and upgrade handling is designed to preserve existing mailbox data, Post Office data, scheduled mail data, queued mail, and registered mailbox locations.

Installation

Basic Setup

  1. Download the correct MailboxGUI jar.
  2. Place the jar in your server's plugins folder.
  3. Start the server once to generate files.
  4. Stop the server.
  5. Review and configure plugins/MailboxGUI/config.yml.
  6. Start the server again.
  7. Use /mb guide in game to learn how to build and register mailboxes.

For upgrades, always back up the full plugins/MailboxGUI folder and your database before updating.

Dependencies

MailboxGUI can run without most optional hooks, but some features require extra plugins.

Vault

Vault is required for:

  • Money mail.
  • Vault-money COD packages.
  • Economy payouts.

You also need a compatible economy plugin.

DiscBridge / Discord

DiscBridge is the companion plugin for Discord notifications.

Important:

  • MailboxGUI 6.0.0 Free requires DiscBridge 2.0.0 Free.
  • MailboxGUI 6.0.0 Premium requires DiscBridge 2.0.0 Premium.
  • Free and Premium editions cannot be mixed.

DiscBridge may also require DiscordSRV depending on your setup.

Citizens NPC Support

Citizens is optional.

When installed and enabled, MailboxGUI can use Citizens NPCs for Post Office access.

Dynmap

Dynmap is optional.

MailboxGUI can show mailbox and Post Office markers on supported server/Dynmap combinations.

Important Dynmap note:

Dynmap markers are not supported on Paper/Purpur 26.1.x or 26.2.x. The core MailboxGUI mail system still works on those server versions, but Dynmap marker support should be disabled or avoided on those builds.
