- Completely revamped how Empowered gear is created to a much more player-friendly system.
- Empowered gear no longer requires a crafting table. It now uses the Smithing Table.
- Empowering an item now only requires a Netherite Smithing Template and a Nether Star. Making Empowering overall cheaper (still requires Wither kills) and not forcibly removing your enchants!
- Empowering a Crossbow or Bow still does not transfer over enchants due to how Smithing works internally so you will still have to re-upgrade those.
- Added Empowered Saddle (Gives +4 Armor, +25% Max HP, +1 Knockback Resistance, +30% Jump Strength, and +30% Speed)
- Added new enchantment Double Tap for Bows. Drops from any elites very rarely. The following effects occur when applied to a bow:
- Bows fire two projectiles at once instead of one.
- Arrow damage is increased (Stacks with Power)
- Bows take increased durability damage and take two arrows at once instead of one.
- Incompatible with Infinity enchantment.
- Empowered Netherite Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots now have +4 Armor Toughness rather than +3.
- Empowered Mace now has a slight boost in attack speed. (0.6 -> 0.8)
- Empowered Crossbow now gives +15% Speed when used in your Main hand. Offhanding it only gives you +10% Speed.
- Empowered Bow now gives +15% Sneak Speed when used in your Main hand. Offhanding it only gives you +10% Sneak Speed.
- Increased Empowered Shield durability. (536 -> 672 aka exactly x2 the durability of a normal shield)
- Increased Empowered Trident attack damage. (12 -> 13)
- Increased Empowered Wolf Armor durability. (100 -> 128 aka exactly x2 the durability of normal wolf armor)
- Using the Looting Enchantment now has an even higher chance to cause Withered Knights to drop Wither Skeleton Skulls.
- Reduced the amount of Exp Bottles dropped by all Elite enemies due to the change to Empowerment.
- The [Ready to Empower] advancement now requires only a Nether Star and Netherite Upgrade Template to be in your inventory and now states to use the Smithing Table.
- The [Overwhelming Dedication] advancement now requires an Empowered Saddle to be smithed/crafted as well.
- Fixed [EXP Hoarder] no longer having an icon in the Advancements page.
- Fixed Withered Knights very rarely dropping equipped items.
- Updated to 1.21.5
- Tormented Zombified Piglins and Drowned Tidehunters can now break down doors.
- Withering Souls can now drop Wither Roses.
- Some elite enemy movement speeds have been adjusted as a result of the changes in 1.21.5. There shouldn't be any noticable difference.
- Reduced Mythical Guardian health. (160 -> 140)
- Added an Elite Bestiary in the form of using the Advancement system. A new tab will appear that will tell you how to log elite enemy information. There is an entry for all 34 elites (as of this update) (Note: Using a spyglass and looking at any elite mob will unlock it's bestiary log which you can use to look up basic information on them. This includes elite subvariants)
- Added Elite Guardians. (75hp, Regenerates health moderately, Has 10 armor)
- Added Elite Elder Guardians. (160hp, Has 18 armor, Makes all nearby non-elite Elder Guardians immune to damage. Upon being defeated for the first time recovers ALL lost HP, gains increased damage, but loses 18 armor.)
- Added Spearing enchantment. Used only on Tridents. Increases thrown Trident damage by +1 per level. Has a max level of 5. (Note: Drops from the new Elite Elder Guardians at a 25% chance. Randomly enchanted between levels 1-5. Chance to drop increases by 5% per level of looting)
- Added Empowered Turtle Shell (Helm). Has +300 durability, +1 Oxygen Bonus, +1 Armor Toughness, and +75% Underwater Mining Speed.
- Added new legendary Executioner's Great Axe. It is now required to been obtained atleast once for the secret advancements.
- Attempted to optimize Die by the Sword by trying to remove as many redundant commands as possible to improve performance on servers.
- Elite Pillagers, Vindicators, and Evokers have had their elite particle effect changed to match the other common elites.
- Player spawned Iron Guardians now have elite particles around them.
- Fixed Elite Slimes not having elite particles.
- Fixed minor typo in Everburn's lore flavor text.
Dev's Note: The new Bestiary feature is inspired by the datapack Minecraft Compendium. Their idea for using a spyglass to show mob information was a very neat idea so I did my own spin on it for the elite mobs in this datapack. Here is a link to the pack if you are interested https://modrinth.com/datapack/minecraft-compendium
As a result the mob information spoiler/mini-wiki will be removed from the Die by the Sword datapack page as it can now be accessed ingame.
Lastly the next version will only be focused on upgrading to 1.21.5 when it comes out within the next few days as well as updating Overheat and improving it's warning system a bit more.
- Added "This is SPARTA! II" challenge advancement. Requires killing a Tormented Zombified Piglin by having it fall to it's death.
- Added "Exp Hoarder" advancement for having a full stack of 64 bottles of enchanting.
- Added two secret advancements related to obtaining legendary items. Both are hidden.
- Increased Cursed Bogged health. (50 -> 55)
- Increased Vindicator Beserker movement speed. (0.27 -> 0.28)
- Increased Piglin Commander enemy aura buff radius. (8m -> 10m)
- Increased Piglin Commander enemy aura buffs. (Strength I and Regeneration I -> Strength I and Regeneration II)
- Reduced Elite Zombie movement underground speed bonus. (+40% -> +20%)
- The following elite loot tables have been changed/have been modified:
- Legendary Items now require the player to recieve kill credit for them to drop. So they won't show up in auto mob grinders anymore.
- All generic elite loot (diamonds, emeralds, exp pots, etc.) now require the player to recieve kill credit for them to drop.
- Cooked Beef and Emeralds in the generic elite drop table now drop more often and are now affected by the looting enchantment. However, emeralds have a lower drop amount.
- Diamonds in the generic elite drop table now drop less often.
- Many more drop table changes but too many to list... Some nerfs some buffs. Although additions/removals will be documented here.
- Hell Endermen can now occasionally drop Fire Resistance potions (3 minute or 8 minutes but 3 minute is more likely) if killed in the Nether by a player. Affected by looting.
- Void Endermen no longer drop Eyes of Ender. Instead they can drop splash potions (Slow Falling for 1:30 or Healing III but Slow Falling is more likely). Affected by looting.
- Iron Guardians (naturally spawned only) no longer always drop an emerald block. Now it's a 40% chance with +10% chance per looting level. Must be killed by a player.
- Eruption Cubes now can drop Fire Resistance Potions (12 minutes) at a 7% chance with +1% chance per looting level. Must be killed by a player.
- Twilight Phantoms now rarely drop "Edible Phantom Wings" which are an Elytra with 61 durability (60 sec of flight). It cannot be upgraded, hotswapped or repaired. However, it is edible and can be eaten once used up!
Note: 15% chance to drop +1% chance per level of looting. Think of it like a mini-elytra that can be used early game and disposed of easily when used up. Also I thought it would be an interesting addition and might be removed/replaced in the future.
- Piglin Overseers no longer drop iron nuggets.
- Pillager Spreadshooters can now drop potions of luck at a 1% chance +0.5% chance per level of looting. Must be killed by a player.
- Withering Souls can now rarely drop Wither Skeleton skulls. 5% chance +1% chance per level of looting. Must be killed by a player.
- Many Elite drops are now affected by the looting enchantment. Certain elite mob drops now require the player to recieve kill credit to drop.
- Legendary tools and empowered tools/melee weapons now show the default green attributes like vanilla minecraft tools/melee weapons.
Note: Attribute values remain unchanged. Only how they are displayed is changed! Also this only applies to Attack Damage and Attack Speed!
- Fixed Cursed Bogged not being able to be sheared for extra mushrooms.
- Fixed Generic elite loot drop table only ever giving one of any of it's drops besides experience bottles.
- Fixed Raging Hoglins not giving cooked porkchops when killed while on fire.
