Spells

  • break effect deals twice as much damage
  • added 'align' value for 'direction' and 'position' nodes (to align the direction to the closest carinal direction, and to align the position to the grid along one or more axes)
  • added 'attacker' target to target the entity who attacked the caster
  • added 'damage dealt' and 'damage taken' flags

Mind Attacks

  • only boss entities now have focus, meaning that attacking with your mind other mobs will result in the order being applied instantly
  • A fully charged mind attack can deal up to 10 hearts of damage
  • mind attacks have different fx for when they just remove focus and when they actually apply the mind control order

Bug Fixes

  • now all tutorial advancements show up
  • fixed "player_and_mob" target selector
  • fixed a bug where players dying while meditating would lose their items

Nerd Stuff

  • shapes and effects code is not totally separated from the rest of the pack, meaning that it is now possible to make add-on datapacks which introduce new effects or shapes (documentation coming in the future)

Important bug fixes

  • settings (/trigger xem.settings. <...>) now work without having cheat enabled
  • you get fire resistance while meditating
  • meditation clone does not push players when they exit meditation

please use the following commands to ensure that all values will be updated correclty: /scoreboard objectives remove xem.op /reload

Meditation

  • completely rewritten meditation mechanic. You are no longer put in spectator, thus preventing exploits.
  • added mind attacks
  • added tutorial advancement for meditation

Spells

  • fixed seek movement mode in other dimensions
  • using a strong selector (object, marked entity, ...) on a meditating player will select the clone of their body
  • marking a meditating player's clone will result in the player being marked

Spells

  • Added new shape: 'dart' (faster projectile)
  • Added 'seek' movement mode for 'projectile', 'sprout', 'dart': seeks a target with an optional offset (similar to follow, but momentum based)
  • Now shapes apply effects with different intensity. the shape intensity value is multiplied by the spell power to define the effect power (so with equal spell power, defined by the time spent charging the spell, a sprout shape will apply a stronger effect then a dart shape)

Trinkets

  • Now the scrying trinket requires 5 soul energy, instead of 1, to protect you from being targeted

Meditation

  • Added a partial implementation of the meditation mechanic. sneak twice quickly while looking straight down to get out of your body in a sort of astral projection for a limited time. Approach your body to go back in.

Shapes changes

  • added 'area of effect' shape

  • added 'terminate' node for turret: allows to add a condition to terminate early the turret and/or an instruction to run when the turret ends

  • Added 'follow_rotation' node to 'follow' movement mode: can be used to make a turret rotate toward a target or a location

  • Added 'counter' instruction: allows to set the value of an internal counter of the spell

  • Added 'compare' condition: allows to compare two values

  • Greatly improved shape's textures!

Effects changes

  • Added 'release_potion' effect: use up some duration of a potion in your inventory and apply that duration of the effect to the target

New Mechanics

  • Added two trinkets: 'scrying ward' and 'translocation ward'

  • Scrying Ward: when active, protects you from being targeted by strong selectors (objects & marked_entities)

  • Translocation Ward: when activated, prevents translocation spells to teleport targets from inside to outside its range

  • Added 'focus', 'casting fatigue' and 'raw energy' bars

  • Raw Energy: can be used to pay any energy cost, but it maxes out at 10 points, and regens by 1 point every half second

  • If the Casting Fatigue bar fills completely all your currently active spells will be destroyed

  • if the Focus bar is more then 2/3 full, your mind is concealed, meaning that the 'player' target selector will not be able to target you (more uses for focus will come)

Balance

  • Spirits drop way more energy (with extra increase with looting)

Accessibility

  • Added settings to enable/disable shapes particles
  • Added settings to enable/disable custom gui

Bugfixes

  • fixed a bug that prevented jars to be placed in the nether and in the end

Main Changes

  • added compatibility for Minecraft 1.20.3
  • added "spell break" effect (destroys the targeted spell)
  • added "player and mob" target, to target both players and mobs
  • added "ignore" sub-node to "player" and "player and mob" targets, to allow ignoring the caster during the target selection
  • "selection" sub-node, for target node, now has values going from 1 to 10 instead of just "single" and "multiple"

Nerdy Changes

  • split concatenate angle, and random direction angle, now don't suffer from gimbal lock
