The 1.21.1 rebuild for Cobblemon 1.6.1 compatibility is finally complete!
The long awaited update is finally here!!!
Knowing my luck, just in time for Cobblemon to update to 1.21.5. :P
I've done my best to achieve feature-parity with the original modpack, but there are many things (of particular note is the "Let's Do" mod suite we used to use for food, farming and alcohol) that unfortunately aren't available for this version of minecraft.
That being said however, the really important bits are here. The Cobblemon addons we've been waiting for have finally been updated to 1.21.1, and of particular note, we now feature Mega Showdown, meaning we now have access to every battle gimmick from the mainline games, including Dynamax, Z-Moves, and Terastalization!
Thanks to Keith's help, we were able to implement a new system for starting equipment as well, which has a really pretty GUI and cute descriptions for each region now. The starting items are also slightly more generous, at his suggestion.
The new version of the modpack is designed around the feeling of being catapulted into a Luke Humphris or Adventure Time style "Quiet/Peaceful Apocalypse". You have been catapulted thousands of years into the future, ostensibly by Celebi considering what the modpack is called, and your job is to help a mysterious "Professor Thistle" categorize the kinds of Pokémon that still survive in this apocalyptic place, hopefully also surviving long enough to tell the tale from your perspective as well, but the Pokédex is uploading your progress to one of Thistle's offsite servers somewhere anyway, so your survival is not, strictly speaking, what you'd call "Necessary".
The modpack still adheres to the same "Chocolate and Vanilla Plus" mentality when it comes to gameplay; my goal here was to have Cobblemon and the best of its addons, in a package that makes them as easy to use as possible. For your singleplayer worlds, you can disable or remove Lost Cities and you'll have worlds without ruined cities, but still be able to join the server.
And similarly, there are few mods in the modpack that do not directly revolve around Cobblemon, or the Cobblemon experience. We do still feature AE2 and Create and a host of addons for Create however, as we did in the 1.20.1 branch. Needless to say, you can of course still automate most Cobblemon resources, including Pokéballs, with Create.
I should also mention, the world is a little more hostile now. Mobs still do not spawn naturally, but the cities and many other ruins feature mob spawners, which will allow hostile mobs to spawn in your world and defend the treasures within!
To help you fight back against the hordes, your Pokemon can now join into the fray with you! You can command your Pokémon to attack mobs and move places using your numpad! They will also proactively defend you if a hostile mob comes nearby. Isn't that cool?!
An exciting new Pokémon adventure awaits! I can't wait to see you there! The modpack is currently awaiting review on Modrinth!
Important notes:
-
This rebuild does NOT have full parity with the older editions. We're running a different modloader and everything, and I can pretty much guarantee your old worlds are not compatible with this rebuild. I'm sorry. Blame John. Hopefully the state of the modpack makes up for that though. :)

This update is stable in my tests so far, but it is far less performance-friendly than the older versions of the modpack, due in no small part to the high-intensity worldgen mod we're using called Tectonic. Users with older CPUs (Like me with my own veritable Ryzen 3600X for example :P) are encouraged to use Chunky to pre-generate some or all of their world. Chunk generation aside though, it's actually really smooth, performance-wise.
The "Wow, That Was Worse Than I Thought" Update is Live!
This is a hotfix intended to replace the really really egregiously bad HUD changes from the Legends: Celebi update. Sorry about that!
No fun bonus sneak peeks in this one, sorry to say. The HUD mod should be good enough, it has most of the features I wanted with none of the issues of RPG HUD, but it doesn't look as fancy. If you play with your map on the top-right like a weirdo, you'll probably want to configure the effects tracker in the HUD, which can be accessed easily enough with the Mod menu.
Let me know what you think!
The "Legends: Celebi" Update is Live!
This update focuses in on a few key areas that I felt the modpack still needed improving:
-
First and foremost, I've finally found the time to implement a really nice, functional, player-fuelled economy system, using the amazing mod Lightman's Currency. Lightman's Currency adds a tiered currency system based on Minecraft's material tiers, ranging from Copper to Netherite, which can either be obtained as drops, found as dungeon loot, or printed by players using new coin minting machines(Coin recipes likely subject to change in future patches). Players can setup their own shops using a wide variety of decorative elements, and there are even options for ticketed gate systems, for things like paid trainlines or amusement parks, and more! Players can either store their currency in wallets(which have curio support!) or in a built-in bank system accessed using ATM blocks.
-
Second, I've given the HUD a once-over to really give it a better look, at least I think. I will warn you, from what I've seen, the config for RPGHUD seems to be heavily influenced by screen size and window size, so it might not look as good on your screen as it does mine. Please report back on the Discord and let me know. I have created a backup configuration that should be more screen-agnostic. You should also just be able to disable the mod if you really dislike it, or configure it to your liking using the button in the upper-right of your pause menu. I've also added WAILA, but the way it is currently setup, you have to be holding the WAILA key, which will not be bound by default. I recommend binding it to whatever you bind to sneak.
-
Third, I've added a few new movement options to the game, in the form of a dodge roll mechanic, a wall cling mechanic, and the ability to equip elytra in a Curio slot. The wall cling allows you to grab onto flat surfaces to climb up ledges or slowly slide down walls, and the dodge roll allows you to quickly roll away from danger at a moment's notice. There are also a host of new enchantments to add even more movement options to your arsenal, letting you do new things like double jump or wall jump, or improving your dodge roll's range or recovery speed, or even letting you perform a quick speed-boost with your Elytra. I've also included a mod called Do A Barrel Roll, which massively improves upon the physics of Elytra flight. I'm obsessed with it, and I encourage you to try it as well, but I understand it's not for everyone, so you can disable it using a keybind. I recommend disabling the bind and using the Too Many Binds menu, accessed by H by default.
-
Fourth, I've tried to give players more options for raising their Pokémon. Nicknames can now be 32 characters long, and Pokémon size now varies considerably more; Pokémon can be anywhere from 25% normal size to 175% normal size, but extreme sizes are considerably rarer than relatively normal ones. These changes both come courtesy of Compatemon, which I sincerely hope is continued soon, as it is a really cool project! I've also added Cobblemon Unimplemented Items, which adds a series of bottlecap items to help IV training. Thank you Jon for the suggestion, super cool mod! For any other server owners out there, it also adds a Creative-only "Repel Block" item, which prevents Pokémon spawns in a 21x21x21 cube around it. Future updates will probably see a custom recipe and model for this item. I've also added Cobblemon Pasture Collector, which adds a block that creates loot from the drop-tables of any Pokémon in any pasture block it's connected to, to allow a different kind of Pokémon farming. ;)
Holy crap! What a monster of a patch-note!
I didn't realize how much stuff I had cooking for this update, and I feel like I still missed a few big things! Nearly done here, let's just go over the config work...
As far as config work goes, it was pretty light this time around.
- I did some work on StyleNicknames to make nicknames show up in the player list and stuff
- I reduced the radius of explosions caused by Pokémon
- I re-enabled villager spawning
- I renamed Blaze Burners to Slugma Siphons
- I maybe increased Pokémon spawns? I don't notice a difference though tbh
- And I made a pretty large change to the way shiny Pokémon breeding odds work, to match my personal preferences
Overall, I really wanted to improve in areas that I felt the modpack was still lacking. I'm still trying to polish it up, but it's getting there! I'm running out of items on my to-do lists, which is a good thing.
The planned 2.0 Quilt rebuild is still coming, but for those of you keeping track of the calendar, it looks like my planned January release date was even more ambitious than I thought. My current plan is for the 1.5 update to focus primarily on finalizing some config work and getting KubeJS setup for custom recipes, and then do the 2.0 rebuild for the following update.
For those of you wondering about updating the Cobblemon mod: Still no ETA, but no time soon. The Cobblemon mod has moved onto Minecraft version 1.21. I would LOVE to follow them, but most of our critical addon mods haven't made the switch yet, so we're waiting on them!
Again, sure I forgot some critical changes, but as usual, see the changelog below for a full, well, changelog. Thanks for reading! Enjoy 1.4.0!

Version 1.3.0 is released!
I don't have a funny title for this one(The "Clerical Housekeeping" update?"), but it's a big update, even if it might not feel like it.
I focused mostly on config work this update, and clearing out my to-do lists. Fixed a lot of bugs, updated a bunch of mods, but probably the thing you'll be most excited about is that I've included AllTheMons, an AMAZING datapack that combines MissingMons, the datapack we were using before, with a bunch of other amazing datapacks. This will bring the total up to a whopping 848 catchable Pokemon in this update.
This modpack uses KubeJS to integrate the parts of AllTheMons we want(which is basically everything but the spawn rules for legendaries and ultra beasts and other special Pokemon, because PGS has plenty of other ways for those), but I'm keeping the datapack in the modpack for attribution purposes. It's a really cool project. Also, if you decide you want to turn the spawning rules back on, you can just add the datapack to your world, and it should overwrite mine. I think.
This update also sees the inventory tabs mod get a huge cleanup. Still a heavy WIP, but it should be a lot more tolerable and a lot more playable now. Try it out!
I've also fixed StyleChat interfering with some of Emojiful's Emoji, and implemented a couple cool new StyleChat-powered chat emoji, namely a few aliases for /table and an /unflip command. I'll be honest, haven't found the time to test those though, 50/50 shot whether or not they work. Have fun!
Worth noting specifically as far as config changes go:
- I've increased season length to around 90 Minecraft days, which means a full year is about 360.
- I've taken out a bunch of loading screen tips that reference vanilla mobs and replaced them with new ones
- I've deleted a few config files for mods we've lost since the modpack began, probably missed a few though lol
And I've also added a cute mod called Deselect that lets you unequip your items by pressing Z(by default).
And probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.
