Chitinous Ties

Player-creatable quests and contracts! Give custom quests and tasks to your friends in multiplayer, or use it like any other quest mod. Put out bounties or outsource your chores!

Contract of Chitin

The main item of the mod! Each one of these lets you set tasks for another player to complete, a time limit, and item rewards to give to them on completion! Then, draft the contract and hand it to the other player. Once they've signed it, the tasks will start getting tracked.

You can craft a drafted and a blank contract together to duplicate them too! And, contracts are fully nestable, so you can provide a quest chain by putting more contracts as rewards.

A contract compelling the signer to quit the game within the next day in order to receive grass.

Extradimensional Legal Archive

This block lets you access a list of all currently-signed contracts. If one ever becomes uncompletable for whatever reason, the contract's signer can use this to break the contract, immediately failing it.

Whenever a contract is failed, its drafter can also use this block to access and withdraw the contract item, letting you either give it to someone else, or retrieve the items!

Available Tasks

The following tasks are available by default, with new ones able to be added via datapack:

  • Buy an item from a villager
  • Eat an item
  • Reach a certain level
  • Find a structure or biome
  • Give an item to someone
  • Go to a location
  • Kill a specified entity
  • Kill the specified player
  • Stare at an entity
  • Place specific blocks in an area
  • Have a certain item in your inventory
  • Ride an entity
  • Gain a specified statistic
  • Use an item on a block
  • Have the drafter manually verify completion

Datapacks

Chitinous Ties is fully data-driven! All player-choosable tasks are fully customizable in-datapack, allowing you to create whole new options with both vanilla and modded tasks! Internally, Chitinous Ties hooks into the Advancements system, so anything that can be defined as an advancement can be defined as a contract task.

Latest documentation on the datapack format is available with the source code, and also included in the DATAPACKS file in every jar.

Supports Minecraft 1.20.1, on all four major modloaders: Quilt, Fabric, Neoforge, and Forge! Requires:

We recommend the following mods with additional support, but they're not required!

Don't use this with any mods that completely remove the Advancements or Statistics systems.

Chitinous Ties currently has a translation available for toki pona, courtesy of the Viscountexx of Chitin!
