FroggyCraft Lite version 1.2 is on the way - check back soon!
This modpack is a lightweight spin-off of my FroggyCraft modpack. It implements FroggyCraft's frog-related content, performance enhancements, and minor technical fixes for the base game. Choose this version if:
- You play Minecraft on an older or low power computer
- You want to use this modpack as a starting point for building your own modded experience
- You're looking forward to eventually updating to later versions of Minecraft (many mods in the full version of FroggyCraft like Create don't support game versions beyond 1.20.1, at least not yet)
The new name of the modpack reflects a shift in the design goals of the project. Originally named FroggyCraft Lite, the modpack aimed to be a very stripped-down version of the full FroggyCraft modpack with no other mods beyond the frog-related ones and a few optimization mods. Newer versions, now called FroggyCraft Turbo, aims to add the QoL and visual enhancing (client-side) mods from FroggyCraft and as many optimizations for Minecraft as possible so that lower power systems can still have an enjoyable experience. In private testing, despite having far more mods, FroggyCraft Turbo is actually marginally less CPU and GPU taxing than the older versions.
Any world you create in FroggyCraft Turbo will be 100% compatible with the full version FroggyCraft modpack.

What will FroggyCraft Lite 1.2 look like? Well let's see...
Frog-Related Stuff

- Bucket of Frog (mod): lets you carry frogs in buckets just like axolotls and other aquatics. Warning: this mod is only compatible with the three vanilla variants of frogs, modded frogs from More Frogs 2 will revert to a vanilla variant if placed in a bucket.
- Frog Legs (mod): adds new block variants for froglights and froglight end rods. Also adds a bunch of new food drops, but that's not important, don't look into it. Remember, frogs are friends not food!
- Holdable Frogs (mod): lets you pick up frogs and use than as tools – their tongues can grab stuff from far away and drag them towards you.
- More Frogs 2 (mod): this mod adds new frog variants that will spawn and can be breed only in certain places (the nether, the end, the deep dark, above y=250), they have their own drops, with one unique drop, the Light at the End block.
- Pick Your Poison (mod): frogs are awesome, we can all agree on that, but some frogs like to be left alone and they communicate this desire by being poisonous - if you leave these little guys be, they'll leave you be and serenade you with their lovely froggy sounds (resist the urge to lick them, trust me!)
- Ribbits (mod): adds villager-like mobs called Ribbits to the came, frog people with their own villages, trades, special items, and fun behaviors.
- SpaceFrog's Adopt-a-Tadpole (datapack): while not exactly like taming cats or wolves, this datapack lets you adopt tadpoles, giving them immortality & eternal youth, and it lets you leash tadpoles so you can take them on walks – no water required!
- SpaceFrog's Better Ribbits (datapack): the Ribbit mobs are a delight, but they like to find ways to die way too often - this datapack gives Ribbits the Regeneration effect and they'll drop a spawn egg so you can reincarnate them if they meet an untimely demise. It also gives then Jump Boost 5 so they can hop around like real frogs!
- SpaceFrog's Frog Variant Changer (datapack): lets you use name tags to change the appearance frogs to any other vanilla or More Frogs 2 variant. You need to encounter one of these variants in the game and feed them a slime ball first, and there's a cost associated with this (configurable, can be set to free)
- SpaceFrog's Hungry Hungry Frogs (datapack): frogs will eat hostile mobs. Adds a rare frog variant, The ÜberFrog, an immortal, insatiable frog that can one-shot kill any hostile mob, never taking any damage - makes for a great guard-frog for your base.
- SpaceFrog's Real Pet Frogs (datapack): emulates the many of the mechanics of taming cats and wolves but now for frogs! Your pet frogs get power-up effects, they'll teleport to you if you get too far away, you can mass-teleport them using beacons and eyes of ender, and they're granted special froggy names (can be renamed) when you adopt them (adoptions fees are configurable and can be set to free)
- SpaceFrog's Recolored Frogs (resource pack): replaces the skin of the warm variant frogs with something a bit less sickly and pale. So if those pale/whitish frogs ever weirded you out, worry not - they're now a beautiful shade of bright, froggy green.
- Villager Frog House (mod): now swamp villagers finally have a home, they get to live in a giant frog! Well, more of a frog-shaped communal building, still pretty cool.
- And tons more frog-related customizations and easter eggs implemented through special datapacks and KubeJS scripts.
Technical & Performance Improvements
- BetterF3 (mod): massively improves the F3 screen with customizable fields and color-coding.
- Bobby (mod): displays cashed chunks without loading these chunks, configured to render a radius of 16 chunks but only loads 8 by defualt (configurable).
- Chunky (mod): allows you to pre-generate chunks over large definable areas in specific patterns (square, circular, oval, etc.) improving server performance and rendering.
- Clumps (mod): reduces lag by grouping together XP orbs into clumps.
- Cull Less Leaves (mod): works like the Cull Leave mod to improve graphics performance by skipping the rendering of the inner faces of leaf blocks, but this version looks a bit nicer.
- Debugify (mod): fixes Minecraft bugs found on the bug tracker.
- Dynamic FPS (mod): improves client system perfornace by reducing resource usage while Minecraft is in the background, idle, or on battery.
- Entity Culling (mod): skips rendering entities that are't visible to the player.
- Ferrite Core (mod): reduces memory usage without impacting the gameplay experience.
- ImmediatelyFast (mod): provides various rendering optimizations.
- Krypton (mod): optimizes networking in multiplayer.
- KubeJS (mod): a powerful Javascript-based scripting mod that enables users and server admins to implement customizations that go far beyond the capabilities of datapacks.
- Ksyxis (mod): speed up world loading and reduce resources utilization by removing the requirement to keep spawn chunks loaded at all times.
- Lithium (mod): implements general-purpose optimizations improving systems like game physics, mob AI, and block ticking.
- Memory Leak Fix (mod): fixes random memory leaks for both the client and server and includes other performance improvements.
- Sodium (mod): Makes massive improvements to performance and give you more control of your video settings.
- Your Options Shall Be Respected (mod) - allows the default settings for FroggyCraft to be restored by the user simply deleting the current options.txt file or files in the configs folder your Minecraft profile
- And several other minor mods aimed at improving performance and/or add light-weight technical features.
Bonus Content
These are client-side-only quality of life mods & resource packs that have minimal to no performance impact and can be disabled if needed. None of these mods are critical, it will not break worlds if they're disabled or removed, so if and when FroggyCraft Lite upgrades to a later version of Minecraft, any of these mods that aren’t compatible will simply be left out of the newer version of the pack.
- 3D Skin Layers (mod): changes the rendering of the top layer of player skins to be 3D and more consistent with the way mobs render in the game.
- Better Clouds (mod): adds amazing looking, customizable clouds that still look Minecrafty.
- Fresh Animations (resource pack): beings new life and expressiveness to vanilla mobs reminiscent to Element Animations' Minecraft shorts.
- Modded Omelet (resource pack): backports the new textures of spawn eggs from Minecraft 1.21.5 and updates spawn egg textures for many other mods like Ribbits
- Music Control (mod): gives you full control of Minecraft music - reduce or eliminate delays between background music tracks and skip over tracks.
- Vanilla Tweaks (resource packs): a selection of Vanilla Tweaks resource packs that fix visual bugs in Minecraft and add other visual enhancements that conform to the vanilla aesthetic. These are enabled as one large resource pack by default, but you can disable this pack and enable individual Vanilla Tweaks packs as you please. For more options, see: vanillatweaks.net/picker/resource-packs
- Xaero's World Map and Xaero's Minimap (mods): world map and mini map HUD that shows what areas you've explored in the world, set waypoints, and display players and mobs. XaeroPlus is also installed for performance improvements.
Guide for Installation on Servers
The following is a step-by-step guide on how to install FroggyCraft Lite on a server hosted by Modrinth, but the general points should be applicable to other hosting services:- Join the FroggyCraft Discord and download the PATCHED_MODS_FOR_SERVERS.zip file from the pinned comment in the "troubleshooting" chat. Unzip the files to your PC.
- Log into your account on the Modrinth website. Start a new server or reset an old server and select the installation type "Modpack base".
- In the modpack search bar, enter "FroggyCraft Lite", select the modpack, and set the properties you want for the server (e.g., game mode, difficulty, etc.).
- Under the "Options" tab you'll see a button labeled "Platform" – click this button and select the option to "Unlink Modpack".
- Under the "Content" tab you'll find the mods and datapacks associated with FroggyCraft Lite. Disable all of the mods with the yellow warning triangle indicating they're client-side only mods. In case you're not installing the modpack on a Modrinth hosted server, a complete list of mods to disable is found in the PATCHED_MODS_FOR_SERVERS.zip file.
Note: You'll see that some mods have updates ready, but do not update any mods or it will likely break compatibility between the various mods of FroggyCraft Lite. - There is one mod that need to be DELETED and replaced with patched versions – Bucket of Frog. Make sure you delete this mods, don't just disable it, the original .jar file need to be absent from the server before the patched file is uploaded.
- Click the "Upload files" button and upload the patched .jar file for Bucket of Frog found in the folder on your PC where you unzipped the PATCHED_MODS_FOR_SERVERS.zip file. The patched file name ends in "FROGGYCRAFT_SERVER.jar" so as to avoid confusion with its unpatched version. Ignore the .jar files for Re:Deco, and Structurify - these mods are part of the full FroggyCraft modpack, not FroggyCraft Lite.
Note: Do not replace the .jar file for Bucket of Frog with its patched version on your local client – FroggyCraft Lite will run perfectly fine on your PC without any modifications and will be able to log into any server running the same version of FroggyCraft Lite so long as the server's mods have been patched. - You're all done setting up the server. Start the server and try logging into it from your PC. You might get an error when first logging in, but just try again, and it should work (this seems to be a sporadic issue related to Modrinth servers). For trouble shooting, join the Discord and ask for help in the troubleshooting chat.
Known Bugs
- If you rename an ÜberFrog and place it in a bucket, it will lose its special ÜberFrog traits and become a normal frog. This only affects the ÜberFrog when placed in a bucket; otherwise, renaming an ÜberFrog will not remove its special traits.
- The mods Bucket of Frog has a bug that crash servers. To run FroggyCraft on a server, join the FrogyCraft Discord (link above) and ask for help in the troubleshooting chat.
Future Plans
Plans for FroggyCraft Lite v1.2 or later:- Pick Your Poison (mod): adds tiny poison dart frogs to the world, and you can lick them and get cool effects! For legal purposes: do not lick poison dart frogs in game or IRL.
- SpaceFrog's FrogCoin Currency (datapack): pay for villager trades with FrogCoin instead of lousy old emeralds. Your server economy can also run on FrogCoin - FrogCoin for everyone!
- If you have suggestions or features or changes to the next version of FroggyCraft, let me know by joining the FroggyCraft Discord (see the link at the top of the page).
