Antique Runes is a medieval RPG modpack built on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.

The pack features 250+ mods centered around world exploration, overhauled combat, new dungeons, creatures, and expanded farming — with performance mods configured for fast loading times and smooth FPS.

⚔️ What does this modpack offer?

🌍 New Biomes & World Generation

Over 75+ unique biomes to explore. From towering mountain ranges to dense, foggy forests — powered mainly by Terralith, Regions Unexplored, and Incendium.

🏰 New Structures & Dungeons

The world is full of places to raid. Ruins, towers, and sprawling dungeons from Dungeons and Taverns, Repurposed Structures, Structory, Towns and Towers, Medieval Buildings, and YUNG's series.

⚔️ Enhanced Combat

No more left-click spam. Combat features custom weapon animations, dodge rolls, and proper hit mechanics thanks to Better Combat, Combat Roll, and Critical Strike.

💀 Challenging Bosses

You'll run into bosses that actually require you to learn their moveset. Hard-hitting attacks and high-tier loot await in encounters from Bosses of Mass Destruction, Legendary Monsters, and more.

Villages actually feel populated now. Guard Villagers defend against raids, Smarter Farmers handle crops automatically, and Mebahel's RPG Quests brings villager quests and hireable companions.

🔊 Sound & Ambience

Immersive environmental audio, realistic footsteps, and medieval background tracks powered by MAtmos, Drip Sounds, RedWolf's Music Expansion, and The Immersive Music Mod.

🎨 Visual Overhaul

Built around Ashen 16x for a clean medieval aesthetic. Mobs get smooth movement with Fresh Animations, menus are overhauled via GUI Revision, and you get 6 pre-configured shader options.

🌑 Dimension Overhauls

The Nether has 15+ new biomes, rare weapons, and deadly structures via Incendium, Luminous: Nether, and Rubinated Nether. The End is reworked with BetterEnd and Deeper and Darker.

⚡ Optimized Performance

Runs surprisingly smooth even with 250+ mods. Heavily tuned using Sodium, Lithium, ModernFix, ImmediatelyFast, and FerriteCore.

👥 How to Play Multiplayer

1. Install the Pack Make sure everyone in your server/party is on the exact same version of Antique Runes via Modrinth.

2. Pick How to Host

🖥️ Option A — Dedicated Server Great for 24/7 uptime if you have a hosting server.

🔗 Option B — Free LAN / Peer-to-Peer Use the built-in e4mc mod. Open your world to LAN, share the generated link with your friends, and they can join directly without port forwarding.

3. Hop In Everything in this pack — bosses, quests, dungeons — scales and works properly in co-op.

❓ F.A.Q

Will Antique Runes come to CurseForge?

Nope. Antique Runes is a Modrinth-exclusive modpack and we don't have any plans to bring it to CurseForge.

Will it be ported to other Minecraft versions?

Not at the moment. I'm focused on making the 1.21.1 version the best it can be. Porting to other versions would mean re-testing hundreds of mods, and I'd rather spend that time improving what's already here.

Can I use this modpack on a server?

Absolutely. The pack works on both client and server. Just make sure everyone's running the same version and you're good to go. You can also use the built-in e4mc mod to share your world without port forwarding.

What are the minimum system requirements?

I recommend at least 8 GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft, a decent CPU, and a GPU that can handle shaders if you want to use them. The pack runs fine without shaders too — they're completely optional.

I found a bug / something crashed. Where do I report it?

Head over to my Discord server and report it there. I check everything regularly. Please include your crash log — it makes fixing things way easier.

Can I add my own mods to the pack?

You can, but I can't guarantee everything will work. I've spent a lot of time balancing compatibility between 250+ mods, so adding more might cause conflicts. If something breaks after adding your own mods, that's on you.

Is there a recommended shader pack?

I personally recommend Complementary Reimagined — it looks great with the medieval theme and runs well. But all 6 included shader packs work perfectly with the modpack.
